Weetapidol Pool Results: Final! (AKA: Anti-Shmuel Just Lost Big)

And now, the real results everyone has been waiting for: the results of the somethingth annual Weetapidol Pool!

Let's get our runner-up Jessica out of the way first. She was chosen as the winner by almost everyone, and almost everyone gets 12 points as a result. The outliers are not lying very far out, as Jeremy correctly predicted her at #2, and I put her at #4.

All of this means that nothing much changes in the standings, and that the final results of the pool are determined by Phillip Phillips, he of the awesome name and the touching crying during his coronation song and the half-decent winner's single.

Wendi and Shmuel go into this tied for first place, and it's been neck-and-neck all season long. Wendi didn't make a bad pick, putting Phillip at #4. But Shmuel made an even better pick, and placed Phillip at #2, thus clinching his first ever victory of the Weetapidol Pool! (In fact, he would have won either way.)

(As you can see, none of us made a bad Phillip pick, but I was never really a contender this season, so I am basking in my successful prediction of Phillip in first place, as well as my victory in Shmuel's pool over at the Idol Annex.)

Those of you who have been following along know how momentous this is. Shmuel has participated every time we've had the pool, but not only hasn't won, but hasn't even come remotely close. In fact, one season he did so poorly that we theorized an Anti-Shmuel (someone who ranked the contestants exactly opposite from Shmuel) would do better. To his credit, Shmuel beat Anti-Shmuel every time we tried this.

Anyway. So this is a VERY EXCITING victory that has been a long time coming. Congratulations, Shmuel! And I have the pleasure of offering you the American Idol-related merchandise of your choice! Will it be Haley Reinhart's new CD? A Scotty McCreery commemorative guitar pick? A Taylor Hicks Halloween mask? The choice is yours!

Weetapidol Pool Results: Top 3!

And we are down to the top two, with Joshua out in third place. We had Joshua in 9th (Shari), 8th (Jeremy), 7th (Kelly), 6th (Shmuel and Mo), and 5th (Wendi)--and that's the closest we got to third place. So much for the hive mind this time around.

Excitingly enough, this one point difference between Wendi and Shmuel puts them in a tie, once again, for first place! OMG EXCITING.*

Next week, almost everyone predicted Jessica to win: Kelly, Wendi, Shmuel, and Shari all picked her! I was the only one who picked Phillip, and thus will look slightly like a genius if he wins. (I think I might also win Shmuel's pool if that happens. Which will help take the sting out of the WGWG fatigue I am feeling.)

Hollie in fourth place! And we are all over the map this week--well, one of us is, anyway.

Shmuel and Wendi maintain their relative standing (with Shmuel one point ahead) by both putting Hollie third, a very strong pick. By contrast, Kelly put Hollie dead last and drops to last place in the overall standings. I had Hollie second and Jeremy had her first. And the bullseye this week goes to Shari, who correctly predicted Hollie to be out in 4th.

So, Skylar is out fifth. I know this was a Shocking Elimination, and I know Shmuel is sad. And that's all I know! Except I know the scores.

Maybe it will take the sting out of Skylar's loss just a little bit if I tell Shmuel that he picked up the perfect score this week? No? How about that it also puts him back in first place? Maybe helps a little? Well, he gets 13 points either way.

Kelly also made a great pick, putting Skylar fourth. Wendi and Shari both had her second, and Jeremy had her third. I guess we all pegged her as a front-runner from the start.

And Elise is out sixth! I actually can't believe we had four girls and two guys; does a girl have a chance to win this season, finally? (Probably not.)

A perfect score this week goes to Kelly! Wendi was only one place off, putting Elise seventh. Shmuel only barely loses a grip on his streak of awesomeness, since he had Elise eighth. I put Elise eleventh, and Shari and Jeremy had her last.

This helps Kelly climb out of last place, but hurts Shari, since she was tied with Wendi for first place. Now Wendi pulls away from the pack somewhat. (Only by two points, but still, this season, that's a lot.)
